Zirrwyrm

Found on Mountain Peaks

Crawling above the rugged peaks of the mountains are the Zirrwyrms, ancient creatures made of flesh, stone, and ice. Their scaly bodies shine in the sunlight like polished granite, refracted by their eyes, which emit a faint blue glow in the cold. In long, sluggish movements, they wriggle above and below the mountains, always searching for minerals, which they crush with their grinding jaws.

The Zirrwyrms are not creatures of the deep; they live on icy mountain peaks and their caves and tunnels. With every movement, they scratch deep marks into the rocks. Wanderers report a deep, vibrating hum that permeates the rocks before the Zirrwyrms appear. A warning sign that something powerful is afoot. Myths say they are older than the mountains themselves.
